HAD TO HAVE IT!
Overcooked 2! is a great multiplayer game based on making short orders and getting them out as quickly as possible.
Being told by friends that this is a great co-op game is enough reason to try out the title.
Fortunately, there was a sale on Nintendo eShop, so I grabbed a copy, AND LOVE IT!
NOT EASY TO GET
Even though the co-op play is noteworthy, I’m here to discuss the Story mode, which includes getting a set score before the timer runs out.
You complete the level by reaching the minimum score needed to advance.
1 star meaning that you did the bare minimum, 3 stars letting you know that you are a try-hard. (that’s me!)
Once you’ve completed each level with 3 stars, you unlock the fourth star for each level.
But, these stars are not easy to get, as said at the end of the game as you unlock the 4 star scores.
This includes the tutorial mode.
FOUR STARS ON LEVEL 1-4
In tutorial mode, you make salads, no cooked items and only items that you have to chop, plate and serve.
Eventually you get to levels where you have to chop, cook, mix, bake and/or fry ingredients before they are ready to serve.
The tutorial level as well as levels 1-1 thru 1-3 were able to be done in only a couple of attempts.
In order to complete a 4 star level, it’s all about efficiency and speed.
(Finishing the level without missing any orders also helps.)
Level 1-4 is the first level to introduce two conveyor belts that go opposite directions.
Food is at the top left side of the stage, while cooking stations are on the right of the stage.
A bit difficult to manage at first, but you learn to work WITH the conveyor belts instead of against them.
AFTER ABOUT A WEEK AND A HALF…
I FINALLY was able to finish this level with 4 stars.
(roughly a week and a half of playing this game off and on in my spare time.)
